I have two young boys and sometimes have absolutely no idea what I am doing! - Should I give them time-outs? Reward their good efforts? Stop yelling and getting frustrated with them? There is so much advice out there its just confusing, this is where I find Alysons approach refreshing.
Alyson encourages you to give your kids responsibility, show them compassion and help them make good decisions, all with a sense of humour. She has a common-sense approach that is easy to follow and with great results (ie kids that are nice to have around!!)
Alyson Schafer is a psychotherapist and one of the nation’s leading parenting experts. She is the best selling author of “ Breaking The Good Mom Myth” and “Honey, I Wrecked The Kids”. She is the host of “The Parenting Show” on Roger’s TV. Alyson has also appeared on such well known shows as Montel William’s, Steven and Chris, The National, The Agenda and Breakfast Television. She is quoted widely in such magazines as Cosmopolitian, Reader’s Digest, Today’s Parent, Canadian Family, Canadian Living and more.

ReplyDeleteThis sounds like the perfect book for all parents. Great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI would love to win a copy of this book - in hopes of not wrecking my child - some days I feel like I can't do anything right with him.
ReplyDeleteJust had my third child, she is now 9weeks old and my eldest is 4 and a half, life is busy! I enjoyed reading Breaking the Good Mom Myth and have taken away many useful tips, I still go back to it and re-read chapters as new situations (and unfortunately old habits for me) arise. Looking forward to reading Alyson's next book!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a parent, but I work with kids on a regular basis.
ReplyDeleteI'm interested to see what the books covers.
went to one of this lady's presentations. It was also good to hear from an "expert" who actually has kids as opposed to the professional academics that preach without the experience.
ReplyDeleteOh, I truly need this book. Hmm... I wonder when I'll find time to read it.
ReplyDeleteMom of 3 boys, I've had my eye on this book for too long! Certain that it will help me with my issues with the boys. Love the Parenting Show too! I recommend it to my friends. Thanks Alyson!
ReplyDeleteI am really looking forward to Alyson's seminar tomorrow night and know that I will definitely want a copy of this book. I have a 19 month old and expecting baby #2 so I am certain that this advice will come in handy. Sonya Rizzo
